PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 1994 to Rampart Engineering Present Principal Analyzed test fixtures for 747 and 757 landing gear. Stress analysis of aircraft maintenance platforms. HVAC design for hotels and casinos. Numerous residential building designs and structural analyses. Surveyed buildings for structural safety and code compliance. Participated in Value Engineering studies for school designs. Designed automated pulp roll stretch wrapping system. Working with the following computerized analysis and CAD tools to document projects and designs: AutoCAD, Chief Architect (3D building modeling), Visual Analysis (structural FEA), MathCad, Alibre (solid modeling software compatible with Solidworks), CHVAC (building energy analysis), miscellaneous other programs for beams, heat loss/gain, piping, and structural analysis. Code references: ICC2006, ASCE7-05, ACI318-05, NFPA13, 13D, 13R; WSEC/VIAQ2006.
1993 to Rampart Mechanical Corporation 1999 President HVAC system design, estimating, project management, and business management. Consulted with architects to provide designs for building mechanical systems. Performed fabrication and installation of duct systems. Installed and serviced HVAC and refrigeration systems. Designed and installed natural gas piping, hot water systems, and boiler systems. Provided air system balancing and commissioning reports. Energy code plan review and inspection.
1992 to Commercial Heating, Inc. 1993 Engineer Responsible for HVAC system design, sales, estimating, and management of large projects. Performed air balancing and installation of large sheet metal work. Supervised shop work and installation for commercial and institutional projects
1990 to Lamb-Grays Harbor Co. 1992 Engineering Group Leader Responsible for the Forest Products, Special Products, and Development engineering groups. Installation and start-up engineer for four automated log handling systems in Ontario, Quebec, and Japan. Implemented safety and quality control standards for design, fabrication, and operation of equipment. Inspected fab shops to ensure compliance. Assisted sales department with application engineering. Led automatic guided vehicle design team. Led development of vacuum type lift-truck attachment for handling paper rolls.
1988 to Lamb-Grays Harbor Co. 1990 Project Engineer Responsible for design of five different multi-million dollar log and wood waste handling systems for paper mills. Supervised engineering, installation, and start-up of equipment. Prepared sales proposals for various projects. Learned PC based CAD design and drafting tools. Led as many as 21 people.
1987 to Lamb-Grays Harbor Co. 1988 Engineer Designed machines including electro-mechanical drives, hydraulic power units, and pneumatic systems. Interfaced with electrical control designers. Worked with sub-contractors during fabrication and shop-tested developmental machines. Types of machinery: log and waste conveyors, screens, hammer mills, log decks, saws, automated pulpwood handling equipment. Supervised designers and drafters.
1984 to Lamb-Grays Harbor Co. 1985 Designer Responsible for designs of standard and developmental machines. Supervised drafters. Worked up to that position from beginning drafter. Received full scholarship from Lamb to complete my college education. Worked part-time while studying for associate degree.
